Setting up filters in some popular e-mail clients to recognize messages flagged by Spamassassin as spam.

Eudora 5/6/7 [Recommended e-mail program]

[Eudora 5] Create a folder for suspected spam (NOTE: Eudora 6 & 7 includes a special JUNK folder for spam and junk mail. There is no need to create one.):
Click TOOLS, then MAILBOXES
In the Eudora Mailboxes window right-click on “Eudora” and select NEW
Name the new mailbox “spam”. Click OK.
Create a spam filter:
Click TOOLS, then FILTERS
Click NEW to create a new filter
In the Match section, select Incoming and Manual
In the first Header field type “X-Spam-Score:”
Select “Contains”
Type
“++++++++” (That's 8 plus signs. You can lower or raise the
number of plus signs to lower or raise the spam score required to
consider a message spam or junk. 5 to 8 are recommended)
In the Action section select “Transfer To”
Click the bar to select which Eudora mailbox to transfer suspected spam messages. Select the special “spam” or "junk" folder you created to hold suspected spam messages.
Close the “filters” window and save the changes when prompted.
You will want to review the suspected spam messages from time to time because some legit messages will sometimes be flagged as spam. Then empty the spam or junk folder.

Click TOOLS, MESSAGE RULES, MAIL
Select the MAIL RULES tab
Click NEW to create a new filter (message rule)
In the Conditions section select (checkmark) “Where the Subject line contains specific words”
In the Actions section select “Move it to the specified folder”
In the Rule Description section click “contains specific words”
In the box, type “*SPAM*” (That's astrick S P A M astrick with no spaces). Then click ADD. Then click OK.
In the Rule Description section click “specified”
Expand the Local Folders menu (click the + symbol)
Click NEW FOLDER
In the Folder Name box type “spam”. Click OK.
Select the “spam” folder. Click OK.
In the “Name of the rule” section type “spam”. Click OK.
You will want to review the suspected spam messages from time to time because some legit messages will sometimes be flagged as spam. Then empty the spam folder.
Open Netscape 7 Mail (click Start/Programs/Netscape_7/Mail or click Tasks/Mail_and_Newsgroups)
Click EDIT, then Message Filters
In the “Filters for” drop down box, select the mail account you want to filter
Click NEW to create a new filter
In the Filter Name box type “spam”
Select “Subject” and “Contains”. Type “*SPAM*” (That's astrick S P A M astrick with no spaces) in the text box.
In the “Perform this action” section select “Move to folder”.
Click on NEW FOLDER. In the Name box type “spam”.
In the “Create as a subfolder of” section select the mail account you are creating a filter for, then select “Choose this for the parent”. Click OK.
In the Filters Rules windows click OK.
In the Message Filters window click OK.
