ADSL Bridge Network Setup (Verizon/GTE)
Residential DSL Setup
These instructions will guide you through configuring a DSL
Bridge to work with your Windows 95/98 network. You
must have a properly configured NIC (network interface card) within each PC.
With the information provided in your packet, there are IP addresses that must be
configured within your PC. This
is accomplished through the "Control Panel" under the "Network" applet.
Open your "Control Panel" and double click
on the "Network" icon. Within this
window, select the "TCP/IP protocol" for your network card and then click on "Properties."
The initial screen is where the IP address for your workstation is set. Using the information
from your packet, enter the first workstation IP address. This should start with 209.96.181.X.You must also configure the "Subnet Mask" in this window, 255.255.255.128.
The next step is to configure the workstation gateway. To configure this, click on the "Gateway" tab within the "TCP/IP"
window. Enter the "Gateway IP address - 209.96.181.129" where it says "New gateway" and then click
"Add."
Now you will configure DNS. Click on the "DNS Configuration" tab within
the "TCP/IP" window. Select "Enable DNS." For the "Host Name", enter "none" and the same for domain.
Next, enter 204.17.220.46 where it says
"DNS Server Search Order" and then click on "Add." Also, add 204.17.220.1 to the "server list."
After you have successfully entered this information, click on "OK."
You will now be returned to the "Network" window. Click "OK" and the machine will
begin to copy files. Have your Windows CD available, in case the machine requires additional files.
You will then be prompted to restart your computer
in order for the changes to take effect.
Once the computer has restarted, your first workstation will
be functional on the Internet. You will need to follow these steps on every workstation
that you want connected to the DSL. The only change will be the IP address. Each workstation will get the next IP
address in line.
