12-24-2004 - Internet Backbone Provider Connectivity & Routing Issues

Widomaker began to see some routing and connectivity issues that seemed to appear around 1:30am this morning (12-24-2003) within our main upstream provider's network. By 3:30am, this was effecting all of Virginia to Georgia. We switched to a backup/alternate upstream connection with no problems. However another backbone provider further upstream was having some of the same or similar issues. At that time ~50% of all Internet traffic was moving properly. At about 7:45am, the backup provider's upstream issues were fixed and we started moving 100% of all traffic on our backup upstream connection. At this time we are still operating on the backup connection until we find that the issues with the primary upstream connection have been resolved.

Update: The primary upstream connection issues were resolved and we have switched back to using the primary connection as of this evening.
