02-15-2005 - WidoSAT/ISAT Frequency Change

NOTE: This notice has been obsoleted by the Feb 17 2005 notice.

We have received an urgent notice from our satellite partner...

SynComm's satellite provider has just informed us that they are going to be testing the transponder that we are currently on beginning at midnight EST tomorrow night... [12:00 AM, Thursday, February 17, 2005]. In order to avoid the possibility of any interruption of service, at midnight tomorrow night, SynComm's service is being moved to another frequency on the AMC-6 satellite. This change will only affect end-users that are pointed toward the AMC-6 satellite...

We apologize for the short notice, but all of these end-users will need to make a change to their frequency setting in order to continue surfing using the satellite after midnight EST [the evening of] Wednesday, February 16, 2005... We have also posted these directions on "http://www.satnow.net/".

The following simple steps are all that need to be performed:

[Do not make these changes until after, 12:00 AM, February 17, 2005, otherwise the Broadband4PC software will not receive the satellite signal.]

  1. Double click the round satellite icon located in the system tray to open the Setup4PC application.
  2. Click the Transponder Management button.
  3. In the Transponder section to the left, double click on the 11860 MHz: H/L line to open the Edit Transponder window.
  4. Change the Transponder from 11860 to 12051.
  5. Click the Tune button located at the bottom of the window and the Signal Quality will then return.
  6. Click the OK button to close the Edit Transponder window.
  7. Click the Close button to exit the Transponder Management window.
  8. Click the Close button to exit the Setup4PC application
  9. VERY IMPORTANT - Right click on the round satellite icon and select AMC-6. Please note that this step is necessary to activate these changes even though it does not appear to do anything.

We apologize for the inconvenience and thank you for your cooperation and understanding in this matter.

Please feel free to call our office (757-253-7621) if you need help making the required changes.
