03-18-2005 - WidoSAT/ISAT/Syncomm Satellite Service Support for Windows 98 and ME is Ending...

We have received the following notice from our satellite service partner. Basically, it is announcing the end of support for the Windows 98 and ME operating systems. Microsoft has already ended support for the Windows 98 and ME operating systems as they have reached the end of their product lifeline. Satellite service will not abruptly stop for users of Windows 98 and ME, but technical support and assistance will no longer be available after the announced date. Users should consider upgrading or switching to a supported operating system to ensure the best experience. Feel free to contact us with any questions.  -Widomaker Support Staff

Dear SynComm Partner,

In order to provide the best Technical Support possible, SynComm is announcing that, as of April 30, 2005, full technical support for the Windows 98SE and Windows Millennium Edition (ME) operating systems will no longer be available. Between April 30, 2005 and July 31, 2005, support for these operating systems will be provided only on a “best effort” basis and any calls for these operating systems will not be allowed to exceed 10 minutes. Callers that request support for these discontinued operating systems will be informed that Windows 98SE and Windows ME are no longer officially supported and that the call can only be of limited duration. As of July 31, 2005, support will be discontinued completely for Windows 98SE and Windows ME.

By limiting full technical support to the more current and reliable Windows 2000 Professional, Windows XP Home and Windows XP Professional operating systems, SynComm will be able to keep the technical support lines more readily available to assist our Partners with the vast majority of their satellite Internet users that are running these operating systems.

For your informational purposes; Microsoft discontinued support for Windows 98SE as of June 30, 2002 and Windows ME as of December 31, 2003. You can view details at " http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?scid=fh;%5bln%5d;LifeWin".

Best Regards,

The Team at SynComm
